Cathedral Concerts is hosting an online concert to benefit Catholic Charities of St. Louis COVID-19 Relief Fund.

About the Relief Fund

100% of funds raised during this special Cathedral Concert will go directly to those impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic in the St. Louis Region.

Catholic Charities of St. Louis is set to launch a COVID-19 Call Center to provide rent, mortgage, utility, and financial assistance to individuals and families who either reach us directly, or is referred to us through the United Way 211 Hotline. This Call Center will operate over the next 3 months, Monday-Friday, from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. The center will have a Spanish-speaking professional on staff and, for other languages, will access interpreters from LAMP (Language Access Multicultural People).

About the Concert

The concert will feature local St. Louis tenor, Scott Kennebeck, who will perform inside Cathedral Basilica on May 1.

The concert will benefit Catholic Charities of St. Louis’ COVID-19 relief efforts. The concert features tenor Scott Kennebeck, organist John Powell Walsh and John Korak on the trumpet. The free musical benefit will take place without an audience at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis on Friday, May 1 at 7 p.m. and can be viewed online. It will mark the first time Cathedral Concerts has ever hosted an online-exclusive event.

“I am excited to not only perform some beautiful sacred music with my friends that people can enjoy during this uncertain time, but also provide assistance for people in need through partnering with Catholic Charities,” said Kennebeck, who also serves as executive director of Saint Louis Cathedral Concerts.

Catholic Charities of St. Louis serves 11 counties in the St. Louis metropolitan area. The organization uses funds to help those who are homeless, abused, struggling with addiction, or needing counseling, among other issues.

“We’re so grateful to Cathedral Concerts for shining this spotlight on our COVID-19 relief efforts,” said Theresa Ruzicka, president, Catholic Charities of St. Louis. “In addition to ministering to those already in our care – which includes residential clients at six of our eight agencies – we are responding to requests from people who have never before needed our help. Last year, our services impacted the lives of more than 107,000 people. As our community faces this new challenge, we expect the need for our assistance to grow dramatically.”
