Last summer, The Magic House opened its first satellite location in the City of St. Louis on the north side of Delmar Boulevard: MADE for Kids. (MADE stands for Makers, Artists, Designers and Entrepreneurs.) Designed to serve children ages 4 to14 years in a high-need area of our region and provide top-quality learning experiences in science, technology, engineering, art and math (STEAM), MADE for Kids is a welcoming environment that enhances creativity and ignites new passions.
At MADE for Kids, children can engage in a wide variety of activities that they can’t experience at home or elsewhere including robotics, laser cutting, sewing, ceramics, screen printing, 3D printing, stop motion videography and digital easel painting.
Our goal is to be a partner and resource for the immediate community, where educational and cultural resources are extremely limited. MADE for Kids has partnered with area schools and nonprofits to provide free field trips, family nights and memberships for the kids who need it most through our Access for All initiative.
The pandemic has affected us all, perhaps none more significantly than our children. MADE for Kids has created Maker Kits and delivered them to area children in addition to creating virtual content for kids while staying home. When we are ready to reopen, the interactive experiences MADE for Kids provides will be even more important now that kids have been out of the classroom for several months.
